You may have noticed posters around Heeley advertising free and low-cost courses for adults in local community venues like the Heeley Institute and Heeley City Farm. Now meet some of the people who have enjoyed getting involved!
The Jewellery Making course ran for 6 weeks and gave people the skills and confidence to design and produce original and stunning earrings, necklaces and bracelets that were professional enough to go on sale at a craft fair! The course was so popular that another one is planned for April so why not beat the rush and sign up for it now?
Kate Joseph said that the class had taught her some new techniques and she hoped to make more pieces at home in her spare time. “I love anything to do with art and craft,” she added, “I can’t wait for the next course to begin.” Another learner, Liz Banks, pictured, said, “the time and place were exactly right for me and it’s the fact the course is local that makes it so good for people. I’ve also made a new friend on the course and we get together to continue with our jewellery making.”
All the beads and equipment were provided and everyone takes home their finished pieces at the end of each class.
The atmosphere is always friendly and relaxed with plenty of free coffee, tea and biscuits to keep everyone going.
So come on, try something new!
