Monday 28 June marks the first of three community meals funded by the Community Foundation’s Faith in Action fund.
This new project is about knowing and understanding your neighbours and has been organised in recognition that Heeley is becoming an increasingly diverse area.
The meal will take place during Refugee Week (14 – 21 June) and will include free food but also a performance of Legends by Sheffield Refugee Asylum Seekers Action Group (RASAG). Using traditional tales, the performance will be about “different pasts and shared futures”. The performances, involving displays and instruments, promise to be an enlightening experience for the teller and the listener alike.
In addition we are arranging classes to teach different dance styles from around the world for the children to Anns Grove School, a Conversation Club and a women-only computer class that will investigate different cultures and traditions. The Variety is The Spice of Life project will be running for a year so much more will be happening over the coming months.
If you want to be involved or would like to book a place at the community meal contact Maxine 2500613 or email maxine.b@heeleydevtrust.com
