Meersbrook Bank’s Busy Spring!
Meersbrook Bank School is having an industrious and eventful Spring.
The school has a new head! Rachel Edwards, the previous deputy head, will take up her new role in September 2010. Mr Mallard will also stay with the school as Executive Head.
The first film night was a great success. A full popcorn-eating house, enjoyed the comedy-adventure ‘Up’. There will be more films shown in the future.
The traditional Easter Egg Displays in the hall were up to their usual awe-inspiring standard at the end of term. All of the children took part, and the designs ranged from single eggs beautifully decorated, to James Bond film scenes, Eggs-Factor Competition sets or simply surreal egg-centred installation pieces. Congratulations to all the children.
On the playground front, a willow den is now rooted and woven into the top yard. It is a beautiful and much requested addition to the outdoor area. Mike from ‘Wildworks’ in Derbyshire spent one (mainly dry) day, building the den, watched by a fascinated audience. Pupils will have the responsibility of caring for and maintaining the living structure.
The Gardening Club is up and running again with plenty of flowering bulbs making the place pretty. Herbs, flowers and vegetables are all in various stages of seeding and growth.
Friends of Meersbrook Bank are beginning to organise this year’s summer fair. Anyone who might be able to help in any way please contact Lilly 0794 1661269
