Summers Here! – ReCycle Rides

Summer’s here (just about…) and ReCycle Rides are going to be out and about with all things Bike!

We ran our first Mountain Bike Club at Newfield School recently, with children learning everything they need to ride from repairing punctures, riding obstacles and using rights of way responsibly, culminating in a ride through Ecclesall Woods, over Whirlowdale and finishing in the Porter Valley on the last day of term. It was fantastic. We’ll be running another in the next half term too. All the participants had great fun, and we hope to see them again soon, possibly at our next Last Saturday Club.

LSC has been really successful for the past couple of months, running BMX and cycling activities in Meersbrook Park. We’ve got more funding from CTC’s ‘Bike Club’ as well as Positive Activities for Young People. We’re in the park on the Last Saturday of the month, every month ‘til September, 1pm til 3pm, and it’s free to have a go. You don’t even need a bike, borrow one of ours! Come along and see what we get up to, come have a ride and a lot of fun.

We’re going to have a bit of our ‘Not Shore’ course at the Heeley Festival on the 19th June, then we’re at the National Cycle Rally at York run by the CTC on the 20th June. The week after, we’ve got a crammed weekend: Last Saturday Club on Saturday the 26th June and a big ‘Not Shore’ event at Meersbrook Park User’s Trusts’ Sports Day on the Sunday, both in Meersbrook Park.

Heeley Festival  Sat 19 June

ReCycle Bikes will be having a stall selling kids’ bikes so come along and take a look at what’s on offer and have a chat to our friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Bike Week 19 -27 June

ReCycle are taking part in one of the rides on 23 June at

Polaris Apparel HQ,  Wreakes Lane, Dronfield S18 1PN.

There is a testing hilly road ride (2 hours) or a 10 mile family ride on bridleways and road.

The evening also features a Jez Avery stunt show and a free bike safety check (first come first served).  Refreshments available after the rides.Start time for the events is between 6 & 7pm and entry is £2.50 adults and £1 children (under 16s must be accompanied.
