The Big Lunch is a national excuse for a street party and a chance to get to know your neighbours. Organised by the Eden Project, last year’s event attracted over a million participants. This year the event is scheduled for Sunday 18th July, and plans for a Big Lunch on Albert Road, Heeley, are underway. [Albert Road will be closed to traffic for the afternoon between the bottom of Shirebrook Road and Ruskin Square.]

Local people from Albert Road and adjoining streets have already begun preparations for the Big Albert Lunch: music, entertainment, games, races, competitions. If you want to help, or have ideas, the planning group will next meet at Meersbrook Bowling Club on Shirebrook Road at 7.00pm on Thursday 17th June. All local residents (and their kids) are welcome. Contact Izzy (Tel: 255 7855), or just turn up at the meeting.

As for food and drink – partygoers will be asked to bring stuff to share on the day.

Look out for more updates on the Big Albert Lunch.
