Get Online Week is coming round again – from 18th – 24th October. This will be the perfect opportunity to find out what your local UK Online Centre can do for you.
As part of the week’s activities, there will be a special event at The Institute, on Thursday 21st October from 12.30-4.00pm. [See a map to The Institute, Gleadless Road, S2 3AF – it’s behind the old Anns Grove School.] As well as the full range of information about the Online Centre, the afternoon’s activities will include the following sessions and information stalls:
- 12.30pm – Reduce Your Bills! Learn to use comparison websites (bring along your bills).
- 2.30pm – Shopping Online and Ebay Auctions – find out how to have your groceries delivered, or grab a bargain.
Information Stalls will include:
- Sheffield City Council’s FREE Insulation scheme – find out how to reduce your heating bills.
- CoSY Computers – Refurbished computers from as little as £25.00, plus information on upgrades, repairs, and recycling old equipment.
- South Yorkshire Energy Advice Centre – more energy and money saving information.
- Debt Advice
- Smoking Cessation Advice
There will also be a PRIZE draw with lots of great prizes, and a fantastic Splash and Grab game.
The usual home of Heeley’s Online Centre is in the Heeley Development Trust offices, Ash Tree Yard, 62-68 Thirlwell Road, Sheffield S8 9TF. Staff and volunteers at the Online Centre can help you learn to use a computer if you’re a beginner. There’s also help with writing CVs and online job searches, information about saving money or shopping online, and a range of other courses too.
There are ‘Drop In’ sessions every week at the following times:
- Tuesday: 9.00am – 12.00pm and 1.00pm – 4.00pm
- Wednesday: 9.00am – 12.00pm and 1.00pm – 4.00pm
- Thursday: 9.00am – 12.00pm only
