Heeley FC U10’s represented Sheffield FC, the World’s First Football Club in the McDonalds National Football Festival held last week at Wembley. The event took place on the hallowed turf less than 24 hours after England had defeated Hungary.
Sheffield FC has started a relationship with Heeley FC as they look to return to the area with the proposed move back to Olive Grove. Twelve squads from U7’s to Adults will benefit from the relationship, as well as many families in the area who have connections with the Heeley FC.
The boys wearing their new kit in the original colours of Heeley, supplied by Sheffield FC and sponsored by IGD, International Golf Development took part in games against teams from all over the Country before meeting England legends Michael Owen, Sir Trevor Brooking and Sir Geoff Hurst.
Sheffield FC Development Manager Lee Walshaw said; “The boys had a fantastic time playing on Wembley and they’ll remember this day for as long as they live. Everyone was a credit to themselves, their families and to Sheffield. The people of IGD have given the boys a new identity, whilst bringing the history of Heeley FC to the fore and everybody at Sheffield FC is grateful to them.”
