The summer term at Meersbrook Bank School brought with it a vibrant community school fair & an admirable harvest from the Gardening Club.

Sunday July 4th was another sunny day for the pupils, families & friends who took part in the beautifully organised summer fair, raising over £2000.

Traditional games, arts & crafts, music & dance performances & workshops could have kept anyone busy for an afternoon but if that wasn’t enough there were tombolas, raffles, quizzes, tasty food stalls, face painting, tattoos, &an emergency police vehicle to explore.

Jason, who was in charge of the games said: “Being a new parent to the school I was privileged to see how parents &children donated their precious time &used their skills – some skills adapted uniquely for rollerball & play your cards right.

“The fruit of their labour was a colourful, friendly but competitive time at the fair.”

A popular newcomer to the fair was the glamorous  ‘wishing fairy’ who could be found perched in the willow den. Her visitors made wonderfully positive wishes, which were tied on the den for all to read.

Our wish is that she comes back to our next fair!

The gardening club has been incredibly productive this term: by the last week of the school year the children were harvesting: potatoes, garlic, corn, beans &onions.

Sunflowers & tomatoes planted along the bottom of the yard were left to grow over the summer. Reddening tomatoes &healthy bright sunflowers were a beautiful discovery for the pupils as they returned to school in the first week of September.

Gardening club continues to be on Tuesday lunchtimes &anyone interested in helping please see Yo (07925634420).

Friends of Meersbrook Bank are planning a Halloween party in the autumn term &another film night is also on the agenda to entertain us through our shortened  daylight hours.  Thank you to everyone for such wonderful continued support in our activities with the school. Please contact Lilly (07941 661269) if you would like to be involved in future events.
