The Sheffield City Council Planning Committee meets later today (6th) to consider the proposals put forward by Heeley Development Trust to convert the derelict former Anns Grove School into a Community Hub for the area.
The Trust have been developing plans for the site since the School vacated to their new building in 2006 and have put forward an exciting proposal for a mixed use scheme of artist studios, community space and offices for local businesses.
There are more details here,

There has been considerable vandalism to the buildings and 24 hour security is now needed to prevent further damage.
Sheffield City Council have already approved the concept of a Community Hub for the site and agreed to transfer the Grade II listed buildings to Heeley Development Trust in July 2009 so they could develop plans.
There is community wide support for bringing the old buildings back to life and planning approval would give the Trust an opportunity to secure the funding needed to make the redevelopment happen.
The Planning Officer that has looked at the application in detail has recommended that the Committee approves the proposed scheme, you can read his report here –
