hdt wall launch-32 smallHeeley Development Trust (HDT) will be hosting an open climbing session at the Millennium Park from 12noon – 3pm on Saturday, August 3rd.

‘Heeley Hang’ will showcase the pioneering open access climbing equipment installed at the park by the HDT, and provide local people with an opportunity to engage with the facilities in a relaxed, informal environment.

“We’re hoping to introduce people to the boulders, widen community access to the climbing facilities and enable people to have a go if they feel ready” explained Bev Nunn, Events and Involvement Organiser for the HDT.

“We’ve had donations of around 40 pairs of climbing shoes from the Works and the Foundry, which we’re really grateful for” continued Bev.

“We’ve had a lot of interest in the climbing boulders from people who wanted to have a go but couldn’t access the right equipment, so this support will hopefully enable people to have a go”.

Local climbing experts will be on hand to offer advice, and refreshments will be available.  The ‘Heeley Hang’ is open to anyone regardless of climbing experience, although children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.
