On Sunday, November 24th one of the finest multi-instrumentalists in the world will be at the Heeley Institute as part of the Big Boulder Rolls on.
Born in Belgium to a long line of Romani musicians, Tcha Limberger was playing guitar at the age of six and giving solo concerts by the time he was eight; the first steps on a musical and spiritual journey deep into the heart of folk tradition.
His education spanned several countries, instruments and styles – the jazz of New Orleans and folk story-telling from the eastern European countryside, with Tcha mastering the flamenco guitar, clarinet and violin along a journey which also saw him become the concertmaster of the Budapest Gypsy Orchestra.
Tcha met the other members of the trio, Tony Rudi and Berki Victor, while travelling towards the source of his cultural lineage in the Kalotaszeg region of Transylvania, an area almost untouched by the passing of time with a deep tradition of folk art.
