Exhilarating, hallucinatory, harrowing, ecstatic and surreal, Hisham Mayet’s films continue to provoke and amaze in equal measure.
Mayet will be premiering his brand new film, Vodoun Gods on the Slave Coast, featuring Voodoo ceremonies, and discussing Sublime Frequencies, a label he co-founded in 2003. Highlights will include stories of his experiences from the last 10 years with the now legendary clutch of Saharan guitar groups he came upon in the region, as well as his encounters with possession ceremonies in the Sahel.
