Are you a voluntary, community or faith group based in Gleadless Valley Ward working with deprived communities?
Are you looking for small amounts of funding?
Does your project meet any of the local priorities?
- Working with children and young people
- Tackling environmental issues
- Supporting and promoting safer and stronger communities
- Promoting health and wellbeing (particularly among older members of the community)
- Providing and supporting access to learning, skills and employment support
If so, you may be able to apply for a small grant from a Government fund called ‘Community First’.
Please note: if the pot of money is oversubscribed preference will be given to projects which focus on the needs of children and young people in the ward.
Gleadless Valley Ward has been allocated the following sums of money, and groups can apply for grants of between £500 and £2500, which have to be matched by the group’s own resources (see below under ‘Matched Funding’.)
Allocated Year 3 | Allocated Year 2 | To be allocated by end March
2014 |
To be allocated by end March
2015 |
£8346 | £12734 | £12732 | £16963 |
The timescales and allocations have been decided by the Government, and in line with the Government’s rules, the funding is being administered with the help of a local Community First Panel.
People who sit on the panel include an elected member, local residents, local business and voluntary community sector. The final decision on funding a project lies with the Community Development Foundation, a national organisation running this funding programme for the Government.
Applying for the funds
The third round of funding is now available, with a closing date of 12noon on Friday 31st January 2014.
Matched Funding
Groups can apply for between £500 and £2500. However, whatever you apply for must be ‘matched’ with the same amount in volunteer hours, gifts in kind, cash donations or other grant funding. Gifts in kind could be the value of equipment, donated items or room hire. The value of volunteer time is calculated at £11.09 per hour.
Application forms should be returned electronically to steve.rundell@gvcf.org.uk or by post to:
