Heeley-based Sheffield Young Carers Project will be holding an art exhibition at the Winter Gardens from Wednesday, 11th June to Friday, 13th June to coincide with Carers Week 2014.
‘We care. Do you? will be showcasing artwork and photography created by some of the children and young adults aged between 8-21 who provide a substantial amount of unpaid care to members of their family struggling with long-term illness, mental health problems or substance misuse.
Contributing artists have used themes of love, identity and pride to express their experiences as part of the Views of Young Carers Explained (VOYCE) project, a four –year Sheffield initiative to provide young carers with a voice.
Katie Borland, Fund-Raising Officer for Sheffield Young Carers, said “With staff and volunteers on hand to answer questions, a wide range of art on display, and free art and craft activities for the whole family, we’d love you to stop by and say hello!”
