Widely regarded as one of the leading English singer/songwriters of his generation, Chris has twice been named BBC Radio 2’s Folk Singer of the Year and twice been awarded BBC Radio 2’s Original Song of the year.  He is also an acclaimed interpreter of traditional music from the UK and Europe, and is the founder of R.U.F Records and The English Acoustic Collective.

His eagerly awaited 5th album for release in spring 2016 includes reflections on minor league football, empty nest syndrome, learning to swim, Cook-in Sauce and, not least, the Gecko as a metaphor for contemporary society.

Collaborators have included Martin Carthy, Dizraeli, Billy Bragg, Andy Cutting, Andy Irvine, Karine Polwart, Jean Francois Vrod, The Imagined Village, Hugh Lupton, Martin Butler and many others.
