voice_dec12_frontcover The Winter 2012 issue of the Heeley Voice starts with an update on the redevelopment of the former Anns Grove School and the recent additions to Heeley Millennium Park – both projects are due to be completed in early 2013 and will result in really exciting new facilities in the heart of Heeley.

If you are interested in renting space in the first building to be refurbished on the Anns Grove site, there is more information about the space available here.

There are details of an upcoming performance of Ruddigore by Meersbrook Operatic Society – Heeley Hoofers amateur dramatic group are looking for new members and Heeley/Meersbrook residents are taking part in a never seen before belly dance interpretation of Sleeping Beauty at the Montgomery Theatre.

This issue also includes details of next terms Adult Learning courses in the area, the price of the courses have been reduced thanks to a bursary awarded by the South Community Assembly so get in touch soon if you want to book place.

Heeley Development Trust are looking for volunteers – if you have some time to give, please have a look at the opportunities on page 12. The University of Sheffield are also looking for people to take part in their ‘Digital City’ project – more details on page 2 and page 12.

There is also great news that both Alexandra Road Community Garden and Heeley History Workshop have been awarded grant funding for their projects and Meersbrook based Zander Sweet Delights has triumphed in the Eat Sheffield 2012 awards by being awarded Street Trader of the Year!

The Heeley Millennium Park pages showcase the new branding for the park and reports on the events that took place during the Autumn – including the fantastic ‘Big Boulder 2012’ music event – the first of a series of ‘Big Boulder Rolls on…’ live music events takes place on 30th December 2012 at The Heeley Institute and features This Is The Kit – more info here.
