Here is the Spring issue of the New Heeley Voice.

Planning for the Heeley Festival has started early this year and the front page explains how you can book a stall, volunteer to help out or put yourself forward to be part of the entertainment on the day! Stall spaces are already filling up so let us have your booking form asap to guarantee a place (forms can be downloaded here)

The first phase of the work to refurbish the former Anns Grove School is nearing completion and it’s already attracted its first tenants! –  a date has been set for an open day (May 4th) so put it in your diary and come and have a look around, it’s an amazing space.

There are a number of events happening in the area during March and April – The Farm Kitchen has a Gourmet Evening on 22nd  March, Carfield Choir are fundraising for St Wilfrids Centre with an evening of music on 23rd March and there is a family funday in Meersbrook Park on 30th March. In April, the Sheffield Antiques Quarter are holding their second Antiques Market and the Magic Lantern Film Club are using The Heeley Institute for another of their popular screenings.

The programme of events in Heeley Millennium Park is taking shape for the rest of the year, The first ‘Heeley Hang’ takes place on Saturday 23rd March – come and join in (or just watch), there will be climbing shoes to borrow and you can help set routes up the new Sheaf Boulder. Throughout March, April and May dates have been set  for a series of Skills Workshops on the park and there is a ‘Big Environment Day‘ on May 4th. They are all free and you can learn new skills whilst helping with the parks ongoing maintenance.

This issue includes the full list of the Summer Terms Adult Community Learning courses taking place across the area plus info about the free employment support available at Heeley Online Centre for people looking for work – please pass on the details to family/friends that you think might be interested.

It is the 2nd ‘Big Boulder Rolls On’ live music evening at The Institute this weekend (Sat 16th March). The 1st event in December was a fantastic night and it promises to be the same again with Dave Formula (ex Magazine/Visage) and the Finks providing the evenings entertainment. – there are more details here (doors open at 7.30pm) – hope you can make it 🙂
