Jarvis Cocker and Richard Hawley helped to launch the long awaited Sum Studios at the former Anns Grove School , while the Heeley Advice Centre closed down after 31 years in the area.

Visitors from Canada walked the streets of their ancestral home, Local musician, Mike Hughes filmed a music video in Heeley Millennium Park while experienced climbers and first-timers combined for the very first ‘Heeley Hang’ bouldering session.

Award-winning young scientists from across the globe brought solar power to Heeley, the 2013 Heeley Festival filled the streets with music, people and colour while four cycling actors gave a pedal-powered performance of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.

The Heeley Voice September 2013 shows you the volunteers, green spaces, people and places of Heeley alongside regular features like the Heritage Pages, More from Meersbrook and Millennium Park News.

There is also a comprehensive directory of local adult learning services as well as news on forthcoming events, with a heritage open day at Sum Studios and a screening by the Magic Lantern Film Club on the horizon.

This weekend it’s the 2nd Big Boulder Music and Arts Festival on Heeley Millennium Park – if you came last year you will remember what a great afternoon it was and this year it will be bigger and better. Fantastic live music, beer tent, food stalls, kite-making, stone balancing, Art trails and more – plus it’s all free (apart from the food and drink!) so we hope to see you on Sunday!

We also have just started to advertise for 2 new learning champion roles -one in North Sheffield and one in South West Sheffield – If your interested (or know someone that might be) there are more details here.
