On Wednesday 28th April 2010 we held a party to celebrate the 15th birthday of Meersbrook Park After School Club from 4pm to 7pm in Meersbrook Park Pavilion.

The child members suggested having a Bouncy Castle and they helped to organise apple bobbing, a lucky dip Bran Tub, a massive den, dressing up, cake decorating and even ran the Ice Cream Bar. Parents and carers were invited along to join in the fun.

Set up in 1995 it is one of the longest running club’s in Sheffield, still going strong with over 50 members. The qualified staff team supported by a Committee mostly made up of volunteer local parents provide safe, stimulating, fun activities at Meersbrook Pavilion from Monday to Friday until 6pm during term time, collecting children from both Carfield and Meersbrook Bank schools.

Last year the club ran its first all day Holiday Playscheme for 2 weeks in the summer holidays with local outings and interesting workshops, welcoming members and other children from Meersbrook, Heeley, Gleadless and further afield.

It was such a success that it is happening again from 26 July until 6 August 2010, though this year they include some day trips out as well as workshops on Street Dance, Sports Coaching, Circus Skills and Sculpture.

Members and non members are welcome to book by calling into the Club on Meersbrook Park Road after 4pm or calling the Club Co-ordinator, Helen Turner between 3 and 6pm on 07931993596.

Here’s to the next 15 years!
