Heeley Festival 2014 takes place on Saturday 21st June, 12noon – 5pm
The streets, buildings and green spaces of Heeley will be hosting an array of entertainments and culinary treats, with a pop-up zoo, strawberry cream teas in the Heeley Parish Church, a classic car show outside Sum Studios and a car boot sale at the Anns Grove School.
Big Boulder Promotions will be showcasing the best of local musical talent from the main stage on Taggy’s Field. Appearing with a full live band will be Julian Jones, who embarked on a solo career after 10 years with the Lazy Dollies, combining his earlypunk influences with a love of the openroad and a penchant for spaghetti westerns to create country music with an indie tinge. His latest album, ‘Multi-coloured Canyons’, was released in 2013.
Joining him on stage will be the music of Sieben, a sound-layering performance concept devised by composer and musician Matt Howden which combines voice violin and loop pedal to build songs of earth and dream.
Signed to Three Sixty Records, Paul Littlewood has carefully emerged as a solo singer/songwriter from the Fallen Trees, and has evolved a heart-felt, poignant collection of songs from ‘Butterfly House’ and ‘Photograph’ through ‘Second Hand’ and most recently, ‘Scattered by Birds’.
Festivities will be compared by author, artist and biographer Elliot J Huntley; resisting the urge to plan a script and drawing instead on over 20 years of performance experience as a stand up comedian, singer, mandolin-playing magician and politician. Shaun Hutch, Krapwerk and The Bints will also be playing alongside a performance by the Sea Cadets.
ReCycle Bikes have designed and built a roller-skating arena, budding entrepreneurs can receive advice from business professionals and access all the information required to start a business, while a wide variety of stalls will be selling hand-made arts, crafts, jewellery and cuisine.
